Cleveland Browns vice president of football operations Sashi Brown indicated that head coach Hue Jackson will not be fired if the team goes 0-16.
The Browns are 0-10, but Brown wants to make sure the team sees this rebuild all the way through, unlike regimes in the past.
“We are not focused on 0-16. Hue is going to be here as our head coach,” said Brown.
“We talked about continuity being one of the corps premises of what we wanted accomplished going out in January. We know that we have a head coach that can be successful here and lead us to a lot of victories and a lot of winning.”
Although Brown was clear that Jackson will remain head coach, he did not indicate assistant coaches are assured of their jobs.
“Listen, the staff is really Hue’s to evaluate. As far as I am concerned, that is a question for him to answer. It would not really be appropriate for me to do that, but as far as we are looking moving forward, Hue is a guy that we know can man the ship and lead us to a lot of victories,” said Brown.
“He has a staff underneath him that we have a lot of confidence in, as well, and they have put under very challenging circumstances a competitive team out there on the field. We just have to put a full complete game together.”
For now, the Browns have a unified message of establishing continuity, but as we know in Cleveland, patience is easier said than done after the losses continue to rack up.
