Saint Joseph Academy and NDCL Volleyball Advance to the OHSAA Regional Title Game

Saint Joseph Academy and NDCL will meet in the OHSAA Regional Title Game on Saturday as both teams advanced with victories in the Regional Semifinals at Hudson High School on Thursday Night.

Saint Joseph Academy defeated Mentor 3-0 in the first semifinal match at Hudson High School.  

Saint Joseph won the first set 25-19 over Mentor. They then won the next two sets over Mentor by scores of  25-12 and 25-10.

After the match, Saint Joseph Academy Head Coach Kate Latkovic talked about her team’s performance.

“The team has been playing real well together,” said Coach Latkovic. “I think everybody just kind of does their job so it makes things really easy on our side of the floor. I thought we blocked them very well. We’ve been practicing blocking.”

In the second match of the night, NDCL defeated Jackson 3-1.

NDCL and Jackson split the first two sets with NDCL winning the first set by a score of 25-20.  Jackson then came back and won the next set, 25-16.

NDCL won the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-22 to advance to the OHSAA Regional Final.

NDCL was led by senior Emma Blakenship who is an NCAA Division I commit to American University.

Blankenship led NDCL with 16 kills, 4 aces, and 5 digs. Blakenship also had 4 blocks in the match.

Saint Joseph Academy and NDCL will play for the OHSAA Regional Championship on Saturday at 2pm at Hudson High School.  

The winner of the match will punch their ticket to the State Championships in Dayton at Wright State University.
