Friday means HS Football and Rocky River turned out big time to watch their Pirates overwhelm the Senate’s John Marshall 42-6. That was the score at half time as a running clock led to a speedy second half with no scoring.
For River it was the Nick DiSlavo and Julian Patti show with a strong supporting cast. Patti the QB aired it out on 52- and 58-yard TD passes with swing passes to DiSalvo also accounting for scores. Overall, Nick found the end zone 4 times. Always important to note too that the Pirates PK Tony Liva was perfect on 6 PAT’s.
John Marshall tallied on a perfectly thrown 14-yard pass from QB Cason Diiulio to Randell Henry. I will make a stand here and note that Cason can sling the football with anyone in NE Ohio. In speaking to assistant coach Christopher Westbrooks, he noted, and I agreed that the Lawyers are getting “there.” A few mistakes against a well-oiled Josh Wells team is football fatal.
Gonna shout out River AD Mark Wagner and all their fans plus the nice contingent of spirited John Marshall fans. I spoke with Marshall AD Joe Gilbert on the sidelines and a personal observation is that I need to know where teachers and administrators of John Marshall were tonight as they were not at the game. Called RESPECT! Support your student athletes.
