1. Boy oh Boy Bauer
Indians starter Trevor Bauer was coming off a career outing last week against the A’s, an outing in which he struck out a career-high 14 in a win at Progressive Field.
Wednesday, he walked five and didn’t make it out of the fourth inning, allowing four runs on five hits in going 3.1 in an awful effort.
He struck out three, but so what, it was an outing that saw him have to throw 86 pitches just to get into the fourth inning, and he was only able to throw 49 strikes.
The loss puts him at 5-5 on the season, and his ERA is back up over 6 at 6.10. We’ve seen up and down pitching in the past from Bauer, and that was a formula for disaster against the Rockies Wednesday afternoon.
Bauer is set to get a start at home against the Dodgers next week, as with two off days before then he will likely start Tuesday at home.
