Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue announced in Wednesday’s Game 3 pre-game press conference that Richard Jefferson will get the start for the injured Kevin Love.
Jefferson played 26 minutes in Game 2 in Oakland, scoring 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Jefferson will most likely be matched up against Harrison Barnes at the start of the game.
The move allows the Cavs to use LeBron James at the power forward position, possibly to match up with Draymond Green, who scored a game-high 28 points in Game 2.
Along with Jefferson seeing an increase in minutes, it’s reasonable to expect Channing Frye will get more playing time, as well.
Jefferson started five games in the regular season, playing 18 minutes per game, and this is his first start of the playoffs.
The 35-year-old is averaging 5.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and shooting 53 percent from the field in the 2015-2016 postseason.
