Written by Terone Burkes

One of the first upsets of the OHSAA postseason took place Tuesday at East Tech High School in Cleveland, where the ninth-seeded Revere Minutemen came away with a 57-46 victory in a D-II sectional.

East Tech came into the tournament as the fourth seed in the Stow District, fresh off of winning a fourth-straight Senate League Championship.

Revere started out fast and never looked back. Joe Boyer controlled the pace from the get-go. Revere pushed its lead to 17-10 after one. Pete Nance controlled the paint, blocking and altering East Tech shots at the rim.

Nance finished with 14 points 13 rebounds and blocked eight shots against an East Tech team which lacked a post presence. Samson Albert had 12 points for Revere.

Revere lead by 17 after three quarters, but East Tech made a huge run to get within three points.

However, the Scarabs ran out of gas late in the 4th quarter.

East Tech’s season comes to an end at 16-7, while Revere (12-11) advances to host 11th-seeded University School on Friday, March 3 at 7 pm.
