The NFL off-season is close to starting up soon, as the new league year begins on March 14th. With that being said, it should come as no surprise that the Cleveland Browns will be players in free agency once again.
There’s a ton of wide receivers that could wind up in Cleveland if the player and the Browns both so desire. Allen Robinson and Terrele Pryor are just a few of the names that will be looking for new contracts for the 2018 season, giving Cleveland a bunch of quality options. In due time, the free agent class for wide receivers could be even more stacked.
According to Ian Rapaport, the Los Angeles Rams could be in a conundrum of sorts between a talented offensive and defensive star. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins and safety LaMarcus Joyner both are set to be free agents and the Rams can only bring one back on a franchise tag. It’s believed by league sources that Los Angeles would be more inclined to tag Joyner and let Watkins walk, hoping that they could sign him to a new deal in free agency. If it were to happen, it would open up the door for Cleveland as well as San Francisco and Chicago to sign the wide-out.

Watkins had 39 receptions for 593 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 2017, a year that was strong in the sense of being a deep threat. That’s what Watkins is designed to do outside the numbers and he did well in doing so last year.
With the amount of money the Browns hold this off-season, it isn’t out of the question to expect Watkins in brown and orange if he isn’t franchise-tagged by the Rams.
