After parting ways with David Griffin, who recently withdrew from consideration for the New York Knicks’ GM search, Gilbert’s main target was Chauncey Billups, who reportedly turned down the offer, which was viewed by sources close to Billups as “a lowball offer.”
More signs continue to point to the possibility of Altman being named official GM, as he has “impressed” peers around the league and Gilbert is reportedly pleased with how he’s handled his new role.
Sam Amico wrote Tuesday that a source told him Altman has done “a hell of a good job.”
We’ll keep you posted on any updates regarding Altman’s future with the organization, which at this point, appears to be lining up for a promotion.
