Williams, 25, was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Arizona, taken right after Kyrie Irving.
The 6’8″ forward has averaged 9.1 points and 4.1 rebounds over his six seasons in the league.
Cleveland will be his fifth different team, as he started the 2016-17 season in Miami, averaging 5.9 points and 2.9 rebounds, playing just over 15 minutes per game.
He appeared in 25 games with the Heat before the team waived him.
When the move becomes official, it will fill Cleveland’s open roster spot, but the team is reportedly exploring ways to trade Chris Andersen to open up another spot.
