Well, that was quite the NBA Trade Deadline. The Cleveland Cavaliers were expected to be active buyers at the deadline and they were. Heck, they were more than just buyers. They were extremely active buyers.
The Cavs sent Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder, Iman Shumpert, and Dwyane Wade all to different destinations and brought in a slew of young talent. With those moves taking place, Cleveland opened up two roster spots to fill. With a lack of big men on the roster, the team will look to utilize those spots for a center or two. One of those two centers will reportedly be a familiar face.
According to Marc Stein, the Cavaliers are looking to bring in Kendrick Perkins to help sure up the positional need.
Strong expectation in Cleveland that one of the Cavaliers’ soon-to-open roster spots — barring any more trades — will be filled by Kendrick Perkins

Perkins hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2015-16 season but was with Cleveland during the team’s training camp and pre-season schedule this season. Perkins had played with Cleveland during the 2014-15 season and was a part of Cleveland’s second-ever trip to the NBA Finals.
Though he isn’t a scoring machine and lacks the rebounding prowess he once had, Perkins is a physical player still and can provide toughness in certain situations. Also, it’s believed the Cavs want him back in their locker room to help ease the transition for the team.
