UPDATE: Cavaliers Confirm Start Time Changed to 7:30 pm
The Cavaliers sent out a press release Friday afternoon, which included the following:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
GAME START TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 7:30 P.M.Fans Urged to Arrive Early! Doors to The Q Open at 5:00 p.m.,
Pregame Ring and Banner Ceremony Begins Promptly at 7:00 p.m.
According to New York Knicks reporter Al Iannazzone, the NBA has moved the start time of the Cavs’ season opener up to 7:30 pm rather than start at the regularly scheduled 8 pm.
The natural conclusion is that this is because Game 1 of the World Series starts at 8:08 pm next door at Progressive Field.
It will create some interesting dilemmas for the logistics of the night, as the Cavs are going to have a pre-game ring ceremony, banner raising, and TNT has a scheduled day of outdoor pre-game events, including a live concert from Wiz Khalifa.
Everything will have to be moved around to fit this new start time, but fortunately, there are still four days to plan around it.
