If LeBron James bucks the trend and says that he is going to stay in Cleveland, he easily puts himself on the map as the greatest player in the history of the city. As if he’s not that now, it cements it even more.
James can set the stage for a memorable announcement that will set up his next five years of playing, staying in his hometown and keeping the legacy that he’s built for more than half his NBA career in tact.
While it wasn’t easy to see him leave the first time, that was a set up that took a few years to get in place with best friend Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh that dated back to the 2008 Olympics. The situation now is very different.
If he says yes to saying in Cleveland, the statue of James outside the Q might as well go up tomorrow.
