CLEVELAND– The drama of the NBA season is over, and as many expected well before the season even started, the Golden State Warriors again raised the Larry O’Brien trophy for the third time in four seasons as NBA Champions.
It was by far the most up-and-down season in Cavaliers history by all accounts, from the GM not being brought back before the season to a roster that turned over right before the trade deadline.
Now that it’s all over, all eyes will be on No. 23 and what his “decision” will be come a few weeks from now– will he stay or will he go?
LeBron James played at a level in 2017-18 that not many could have seen coming, and there’s no doubt that he’s still the league’s best player and as he goes, the league goes– with or without a championship.
Many national pundits seem already convinced that James has his sights set on bigger and better, forgetting that when he and Sports Illustrated’s Lee Jenkins combined for the ‘Coming Home’ letter four years ago, James said that he wanted to retire a Cavalier.
Of course, he could have put it all to rest on Friday after the Game 4 Finals loss and said that he was staying, but we all know that was never going to happen.
Do I think he’s staying with the Cavs? Yes. Here’s a couple reasons for my feelings that come opening night of the 2018-19 season, fans will still be able to don their James 23 jerseys at Quicken Loans Arena and have their hero on the court in front of them.
