No other team in the league has had more hype this offseason than the Browns, who many are picking to overtake the Ravens for the top spot in the AFC North in 2019.
With the season less than two months away, there’s more and more banter from players about their own teams as well as others in their division, including what others think about the Browns.
One AFC North QB who is speaking up about the Browns is Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson, who will be the team’s starter in 2019 after the offseason trade of Joe Flacco to the Denver Broncos.
Jackson basically deflected a comment of what he thought about the Browns, instead saying the team is focused on the Ravens opening day opponent, the Miami Dolphins.
“We play Miami first. I’m worried about Miami first,” Jackson said, referring to Baltimore’s season-opening opponent. “I don’t really worry about the Browns. We have other teams to worry about. Miami is first.”
The Ravens have been respectful in their chats about the other teams in the division, with wide out Willie Snead IV going so far as to saying that the Browns are ‘championship-ready’ in 2019.
“They deserve that respect right now. They’ve built their team, championship-ready if you want to say that,” Snead said.
“At the end of the day, we’re sitting back in the shadows and we’re working. Internally, we know what we have and we know how good we can be.”
The two teams will get a chance early on to see where they stand in the division, as they will meet on September 29th, the fourth week of the season, in Baltimore.
