
Thursday afternoon the Indians fell to Texas by a score of 7-3 on the road at Surprise Stadium.
Tribe catcher Eric Haase drove in a pair of runs with a 1st-inning single, while center fielder Trayce Thompson connected for his second home run of the spring off Rangers southpaw Drew Smyly – a solo shot in the 3rd inning.
Haase (.364, 8-22, 10 RBI) and Thompson (.308, 12-39, 8RBI) are both hitting above .300 for the spring, while RF Jordan Luplow is heating up, as he’s 5-for-his-last-14 (.357) after collecting one of the Tribe’s 10 hits.
Mike Clevinger had a tough outing, lasting four innings, but allowing eight hits, four runs, three of which were earned with two walks, four K’s and a homer.
Adam Cimber, Brad Hand and Jon Edwards each chipped in one scoreless inning of relief.
Cimber lowered his Cactus League ERA to 0.90 over 11 games (10.0IP, 3R-1ER), while Edwards has not allowed a run across 9 appearances (8.2IP, 5H, 2BB, 10SO).
On Friday night, the Indians will host the Chicago Cubs for a 9:05pm Cleveland start at Goodyear Ballpark.
Corey Kluber will make his third spring start, and the game will be televised on SportsTime Ohio and available via webcast on Indians.com.
