Michigan International Speedway is quickly becoming one of Kyle Larson’s favorite places to race, and the guy races all over. A night after finishing second in his sprint car to Donny Schatz at the Knoxville Nationals, Larson stormed from 4th to 1st, leading the final 2 laps to win at MIS. Larson, who now owns 4-career wins in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, has won the last three events in the Irish Hills of Michigan.
Larson started fourth on a late restart, behind Martin Truex Jr. and Erik Jones. Larson split the Furniture Row Racing teammates heading into turn one. By the time he exited turn two; Truex Jr. was in the No. 42’s rearview mirror. Larson wouldn’t be challenged the rest of the way. The final two laps of the race were the only two that Larson led.
Truex Jr., Jones, Ryan Newman and Trevor Bayne rounded out the top five. Brad Keselowski won the first stage with Truex Jr. winning the second stage.
