The Akron Racers took a 5-2 loss to the Texas Charge on Saturday night.
Nadia Taylor drove home Brittany Gomez and Bailey Landry with a two-run single to right field.
The Racers were able to battle back and get a run on the board in the top of the third. Griffin Joiner reached first with a single down the right field line. A. J. Andrews doubled to left field. Joiner then scored on a wild pitch, making it a 2-1 game.
In the bottom of the third inning. the Charge were able to put three more runs on the board with a solo homer by Landry and a two-run shot from Taylor.
Andrews started off the top of the fifth inning for the Racers by being hit by a pitch. Andrews was able to score off of Sami Fagan’s second double. Fagan went 2-for-2 at the plate with two doubles. She also walked twice.
In the top of the seventh, two Racers reached bases by a pair of walks. As the tying run stepped up to the plate, former Racer, Brittnay Mack- Oakes retired Shellie Robinson to finish the game.
Akron (4-6) will look to tie the series Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. ET before coming home for the first homestand of the season. Tickets are on sale for the Racers 2017 home season at Firestone Stadium, which begins with the opening homestand June 21 through July 2. The Racers begin the home season against the NPF’s newest team, the Beijing Shougang Eagles from China at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21.
