The Cleveland Cavaliers and taxpayers of Ohio have agreed to make the Quicken Loans Arena a bigger and better place to stay.
The Quicken Loans Arena will receive a $140 million dollar renovation to upgrade the home of the Cavaliers, Monsters and Gladiators. Some of the upgrades include a glass front, public areas for people to gather and dining areas with access to watch the game.
One of the main reasons for the renovation of the arena is for public appeal, as The Q is one of the oldest arenas in the nation. The NBA is looking into bringing an NBA All-Star Game to the city of Cleveland in the near future, even as early as 2020.
The Cavaliers and taxpayers will split the bill and Cuyahoga County will accumulate the money by selling bonds to investors. The payments would be completed by 2034 and the final price would be $244 million dollars after interest.
