Ideal
1st Overall: Myles Garrett DE Texas A&M
My ideal starts the same way as the mock. The Browns just select the best player available at number one overall and make the smart choice and go on to the next pick.
12th Overall: OJ Howard TE Alabama
I’m not a big fan of the QBs this year and I wrote a previous article as to why I think they should wait until next year to get one. Following that plan of mine, OJ Howard is probably the best player available here. Gary Barnidge will be 32 this season and the team needs to find another TE to give them some production down the line. Howard is one of the few TEs nowadays that can do everything well.
33rd Overall: Obi Melifonwu S Connecticut
Cleveland’s starting safeties as of right now might be Ibraheim Campbell and Ed Reynolds. Those need to be upgraded even if the team is rebuilding. Melifonwu has some versatility to play both safety spots and maybe even corner. He has a huge frame and is an athletic freak. Put him back there and let him make some plays.
52nd Overall: Zay Jones WR ECU
I think anybody who watched the offseason workouts and events had to fall in love with Zay Jones. He was one of the most productive WRs in college and then backed that up more and more at every event. The offense needs a dependable option besides Coleman and Britt and even though they have bigger needs here, Jones is too good to pass up especially if you are recruiting a QB for next season.
