Projected
1st Overall: Myles Garrett DE Texas A&M
Myles Garrett should be the no brainer decision for Cleveland. They have a major need for pass rushers and he is the best player in this class by a lot. Take the best guy on the board and get your franchise difference maker here.
5th Overall: Mitchell Trubisky QB North Carolina
I expect the Browns to get worried about losing their QB in this draft and in today’s age if you don’t perform well early on you could get fired. With the extra assets, the Browns give up a second and sixth this year and a second next year to move ahead of the Jets to get the QB they want.
33rd Overall: Jabrill Peppers S Michigan
With no second pick in this round anymore, the Browns need to address the secondary. They could go safety or corner but pick the best player available. There might be a chance Peppers slips and while he could be a nice safety, he offers versatility to play all over and be a returner, something the Browns struggled with all last season. To those worried about the Combine drug test, it was only for a dilute sample and he did not test positive for any kind of banned substance. That should not impact his stock.
65th Overall: Chris Godwin WR Penn State
If you draft a QB, you need to draft people around him to put him in place to succeed. Kenny Britt and Corey Coleman are the only somewhat proven WRs on the entire roster right now. Godwin offers an explosive threat at WR the team would want.
