1. Plutko’s third career start
Adam Plutko will get the start in the Memorial Day series opener. He last started for the Tribe on Wednesday against the Cubs and carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning as he tossed just over six shutout innings.
With his win at Wrigley, he became the first Indians hurler to win his first two MLB starts since Jeanmar Gomez did it in 2010. Plutko made his MLB debut in relief against the White Sox back on Sept. 14, 2016.
He will be facing off against Dylan Covey, who earned his first career win against Baltimore on Wednesday.
2. How long will Dr. Smooth’s streak go?
Michael Brantley extended his hit streak to 16 games in Sunday’s win with a 2-for-5 outing at the plate. He is hitting .352 (25-of-71) during the streak, which is the longest active hit streak in the MLB.
The last Tribe batter to rattle off a 16-game streak was Mike Napoli during the 2016 season.
3. JRam’s impressive power
Jose Ramirez led the Indians offense in Sunday’s win, with his 16th double of the year and his 15th homer.
Ramirez’s 15 home runs are the most by a Tribe batter in 51 games since Jim Thome also had 15 back in 2000. He has hit safely in 12 of the last 13 games and has put up a .322 average in May with eight homers, 11 doubles and 21 RBI. He’s currently tied for first in MLB this month for extra-base hits.
