1. Keep the streak alive
With their 9-8 win last night (check out three takeaways from the game here), the Tribe won their sixth straight contest, making this stretch their longest winning streak of the year. There are plenty of issues still that this team needs to address– mainly the bullpen– but all in all, this streak at the very least is a morale boost after the struggles throughout the first third of the season.
2. The pitching duel
Carrasco will be taking the mound for the Tribe in his 12th start of the year. His last outing came on May 26 against Houston during the first game of this win streak. He went five and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and allowing five runs on seven hits. He got the win despite not having his best stuff, so a chance for him to recalibrate on Friday is certainly a welcome one.
Berrios is coming off a loss to the Mariners, but he allowed just two runs in seven and one third innings. He’s pitched in the eighth inning in each of his last three starts.
3. The streak is over
Michael Brantley’s hit streak came to an end on Thursday night at 19 games. It ties the second longest hit streak of his career and is the longest hit streak in Major League Baseball so far this season.
For the streak, he batted .365 (30-of-82) with six home runs, 19 RBI and 21 runs scored.
