CLEVELAND – The closing moments of March 2017 were disastrous for the Cavaliers, as they lost three straight to the Wizards, Spurs and Bulls before eventually falling in the last four games of the campaign. The tide would turn in the postseason, but the team’s overall lack of momentum throughout the final stretch might have made the difference.
This year has been a different story.
Cleveland will look to extend its five-game winning streak against the Heat on Tuesday at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Fla. A victory would complete the season sweep, and further the team’s late-season push to maintain the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
Miami has dropped its last two contests at Oklahoma City and Indiana, but will return home for the first time in a week, where it features a 22-13 record. Head coach Erik Spoelstra and company are eighth in the conference, sandwiched between No. 7 Milwaukee (39-34) and No. 9 Detroit (34-40).
