2. Figuring Out The Forward Rotation- Cleveland has had a few mixups in the rotation as of late, especially at the forward/center position. When Kevin Love is healthy he obviously takes either the four or the five-spot on the floor, but figuring out who the coaching staff wants to combo with him is sometimes a puzzle in and of itself.
When Larry Nance Jr. first joined the Cavaliers, he came off the bench with the second unit along with Jeff Green. However, injuries to Tristan Thompson and Nance Jr. shook things up and Green found himself starting. But the last two games have seen two different lineups and both Green and Nance Jr. started in a game.
So, who gets the start and how does it change the complexion of the lineup?
If Green starts, the Cavs will move Love to center while Nance Jr. starting means Love heads back to his original position of power forward. At the end of the day, Cleveland is choosing between a veteran with a slightly better mid-range game and an athletic big who is more so a presence in the paint. It appears they’ll try to go with the Love/Nance Jr. combination, but that is yet to be seen consistently.
At least for tonight, Nance Jr. will get the start for the second-straight game.
