2. Love having best season with Cavs; Thompson having worst season of career
From a strained left calf to a new role on the bench, it has been a rough start to the 2017-18 campaign for Tristan Thompson. Not only has Jae Crowder sufficiently entered the lineup in his place, but Kevin Love is thriving as a starting center, particularly after dropping 31 points and a season-high 18 rebounds vs. Golden State.
Thompson has yet to score more than nine points and tally more than nine rebounds, just one year after posting 19 double-doubles over 78 starts (132 career double-doubles). Love has registered double-doubles in nine of his last 12 games, all while clashing against veteran centers like Brook Lopez, Marcin Gortat and Robin Lopez.
With Thompson mustering a career-low 18.1 minutes of playing time per game, it appears head coach Tyronn Lue is leaning more on frontcourt players like Love, Crowder and Jeff Green at this point in the season.
