3. Matching Indiana’s Intensity- There’s no secrets or tips to this key, it’s pretty cut and dry. If the Cavaliers waltz into Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Sunday night, they’ll be arriving in Cleveland with a 3-1 deficit on their hands.
Everyone is aware of how good Victor Oladipo is and how chaotic he’s made life on the defensive end. The masses are also aware that guys like Myles Turner and Lance Stephenson are adding huge contributions in all areas on the floor. But that isn’t an excuse for not having enough fire to close out ballgames.
The Cavs have had two huge leads in the last two games of this series and have failed to protect the cushion both times. In Game Two, they were fortunate enough to survive with a three-point victory thanks to a missed three by Victor Oladipo in the final minute. Game Three did not provide Cleveland with the same fate, as the Pacers clawed out of a seventeen-point deficit at halftime to steal a 92-90 victory and 2-1 series lead.
It’s something the team has had problems with all season long and an issue that can’t be fixed with shooting and passing drills. The Cavs need to show some intensity and passion against this fiery Indiana squad or the season could come to an abrupt end.
