The Cleveland Cavaliers finish their visit to the state of Texas this evening when they take on the Dallas Mavericks at 8:30pm tonight. The Cavs are looking to bounce back following their disappointing performance against the Houston Rockets on Thursday, a game in which they lost by a score of 117-113. The Cavs had to adapt to another game without their current starting point guard Derrick Rose as the injury-riddled point guard had to miss another game early in this season. As a result, Iman Shumpert started in his place and provided seven points and five assists in Rose’s absence from the starting lineup.
Tonight, the Cavs get to play a Dallas Mavericks team that has had two losing streaks of four or more games this season already. In a tough Western Conference, Dallas may be one of the only teams that don’t serve as a real threat to Cleveland. However, these are the games the Cavs loved losing before and with the rough start to the campaign they could drop this one with not enough focus on the task at hand. The Mavericks are led by Dirk Nowitzki, Harrison Barnes, and rookie Dennis Smith Jr. When they get out to a quick start the team seems to find Smith Jr. even more, going with the intention of a faster-paced offensive attack.
Let’s look at the three keys to a road victory in the “Big D” for the Cavs tonight.
