3. Mental Mistakes
Denver is a place where strange things tend to happen, and the Browns cannot get all caught up in the thin air and make mistakes if they want to win.
Turnovers and penalties will kill any team, but in Denver it seems to be something that the Broncos thrive on, and even when facing better teams they seem to have the edge in that stadium.
“Take it one week at a time and put us into a position to — you talk about the playoff picture, we’re still right there,” Baker Mayfield said this week.
“We have to win out. For us, the mentality is, ‘Win one week at a time.’ We can’t handle anything else. We just have to take it one week at a time. For us as a team, that’s what we need.”
They won’t get there by putting the ball on the ground, allowing Mayfield to get sacked a bunch, and letting Denver build momentum.
Running the ball against the Denver defense and going on long sustained drives will be the formula for success, but Denver isn’t about to allow that.
Bottom line, this might be a coming out party where on a National stage Mayfield has to take over. We’ll see if it’s enough to get a win.
Prediction: Denver 27 Browns 21
