The Cleveland Browns welcome in the Cincinnati Bengals to FirstEnergy Stadium in a battle of teams searching for their first win. They’re both coming in with good things to build on but also have some things to work on, as is the case with most winless teams.
After their loss to the Colts last week, the Browns had to re-evaluate the way they go at their defensive attack. Jabrill Peppers was very vocal on how he couldn’t sleep for a couple days after having a rough day in the secondary. The team allowed 31 points to an Indianapolis team that sent out the original third-string Jacoby Brissett.
Offensively, DeShone Kizer showed good signs but also continued with errant passes and rookie mistakes. With three touchdowns and two interceptions, there are things to improve upon and getting that first win under his belt will surely help.
If the Browns want to win today, they will have to be able to shut down the running back committee of Joe Mixon, Jeremy Hill and Giovanni Bernard. All three have a different dynamic and can throw defenses for a loop. When they get going, it brings more guys in the box which then opens up wideouts such as A.J. Green and Brandon LaFell. Though it hasn’t performed well yet this year, the Bengals have a tough team with an explosive offense. Luckily for the Browns, they won’t have to worry about tight end Tyler Eifert. Eifert is out today with a back injury.
It’ll be a tough test for the young Cleveland team. We’ll see how they come out in this one.
