Preview: AL Central Champion Indians Back At It Tonight at Progressive Field Against White Sox

3. Playing to Prepare for October

With 13 games left in the regular season, the Indians can’t simply roll out lineups like Sunday every game, as there’s still work to be done as the team gets set for the playoffs.

Yes the postseason will start on the road, as at 83-66, the Indians are not going to catch the #2 seeded Astros, who have 94 wins unless a miracle happens.

But at the same time, getting valuable at bats for players like Josh Donaldson is vital, as well as getting infield and outfield reps for the likes of Jose Ramirez and Jason Kipnis.

Then there’s the pen with Andrew Miller and company still needing work, and let’s not forget the team is looking to try to get Trevor Bauer in the fold before the end of the season.

Yes the excitement of winning the division has quieted down, but there’s still work to do.
