Fowards
SF LeBron James – LeBron will primarily play small forward, but depending on the matchups he could be used at every position other than center. If Richard Jefferson fits in well with the rotation, look for LeBron to be on the floor at the power forward in certain situations, while Love rests and Jefferson plays small forward.
PF Kevin Love – Love is scheduled to be ready to play come October 27. Love will be the everyday power forward, but on days when the Cavaliers play the second game of a back-to-back, he may be rested. Without Thompson on the roster, more pressure will be on Love, and he may see more playing time in the fourth quarter this season, but it will be an area of emphasis for Coach Blatt to limit the number of minutes his stars are on the court.
SF Richard Jefferson – Jefferson was brought in to be LeBron’s backup, and should get plenty of playing time all season. LeBron will get nights off throughout the season to rest, which could open the door for Jefferson to start. Blatt will look to limit LeBron’s minutes all season long, and Jefferson, at 35, is still an athletic wing player who should be on the court quite a bit.
SF James Jones – Jones played 12 minutes per game last season for the Cavs and saw more playing time during the postseason, averaging 16 minutes per game, when the roster was depleted. He could get a decent amount of playing time this season until the roster is back to full strength.
