Nothing like a good hoax to get the blood going on a Friday morning, but that’s exactly the case when it comes to Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo and the latest saga involving a possible trade.
The quarterback, as it’s been well documented, is being talked about as the next savior for the Browns at quarterback, and the Browns seem to be doing their part in stockpiling picks like the one yesterday to get a second-round pick from the Houston Texans along with the huge contract of quarterback Brock Osweiler.
So today when about 4am an Instagram post popped up with Jimmy G saying ‘so long’ to the Patriots, right away Browns fans assumed that a deal was all but done.
Not so fast.
The early-morning post was reportedly a hoax according to reports, and a deal indeed has NOT been made, as of yet anyway, for the Browns to secure Garoppolo.
The post has since been deleted, but here’s a screen shot of the farewell:

The status of a deal for Garoppolo seems to be the biggest story in free agency right now, and the Browns wild move Thursday to get a second-round pick seems to fall right in place to eventually offer the Pats a huge amount of picks to get the backup QB.
For now though, stay tuned, and make sure to protect your phone from those trying to play a trick on you.
