I’ll start out by saying how much of a class act both players were, both on and off the court. I loved both guys for their honest and personalities. Frye always gave everything he had and, in my opinion, deserved to play more minutes than he played. Wade helped run the second team almost to perfection. He was the leader of the bench bunch and really played his heart out on a nightly basis, regardless of being 36.
Frye, who is 34, handled the trade with so much class and, again, I wish Cleveland could’ve kept him, but this is a youth movement that comes with talent. Unfortunately, Frye is fell victim to father time in GM Koby Altman’s eyes and as for Wade? Since signing with Cleveland, while he was thrilled to be rejoining James, he made it very clear of his desire to retire as a member of the Miami Heat. I have no problem with that.
The Cavaliers front office even went as far as to have a meeting with both James and Wade and leave it up to Wade on if he wanted to be traded back to Miami. Wade liked the idea and LeBron completely understood.
That was a classy situation for all involved. I’ll admit, I didn’t think Wade had anything left in the tank. He proved me wrong and now, Wade will get what he wants and so does Cleveland. I wish for nothing but the best for both Channing Frye and Dwyane Wade.
