My Lineup:
QB Andy Dalton CIN $7,100
Dalton has looked good this year, leading the Bengals to a 2-0 record and throwing for 5 TDs and 0 INT. He finally has a second weapon in Tyler Eifert that has taken the pressure off of A.J. Green especially in the red zone. He has a favorable matchup this week going up against a Ravens defense that looked lost without Suggs giving up over 350 yards to Derek Carr.
RB Marshawn Lynch SEA $8,700
The Seahawks have struggled this year, but they get a favorable matchup this weekend at home against Chicago. The Bears defense is the worst in the NFL, and if this game gets out of hand, Seattle will run the ball quite a bit like they normally do. Beast Mode.
RB Danny Woodhead SD $6,400
Woodhead might be the most consistent value pick in fantasy football every week. He will get both runs and catches every game and has gotten looks in the red zone, despite being much smaller than Melvin Gordon III. Minnesota got carved up two weeks ago by Carlos Hyde and played a team that doesn’t really run the ball in Detroit which had only 16 rushes to 53 passes last week—including four by Stafford. San Diego will run more than that, making Woodhead a good option.
WR Julio Jones ATL $9,000
He’s tied for the NFL lead in receptions with Julian Edelman. He’s bound to get some good looks against Dallas, who’s missing their best corner for the season. My only concern playing Dallas is they are very good with time of possession, but without Romo and Dez Bryant, advantage Atlanta.
WR DeAndre Hopkins HOU $7,800
I’m still not convinced that Tampa Bay’s defense is any good, despite holding the Saints to 19 points last week. The best player on the defense, Gerald McCoy, is coming off an injury last week and the Texans are not playing the Panthers. Look for Hopkins to play more like he did in week one than in week two.
WR Donte Moncrief IND $6,000
After 2 weeks, Moncrief actually leads the Colts in receptions, yards, and TDs. With T.Y. Hilton still dealing with a knee injury, and in a shortened week because of the Monday night game, Moncrief becomes a great value play because the Colts don’t have a running game and can’t afford to go 0-3—especially losing to the Titans.
TE Greg Olsen CAR $5,900
He burned me two weeks ago, but I’m going for it again. He saw 14 targets last week, and I don’t think you can say that about many TEs out there, especially with all the QB injuries going on. He goes up against a bad Saints defense this week. If you don’t believe me, just search up Delvin Breaux on Twitter. C’mon man.
K Travis Coons CLE $4,500
I’m only left with the bare minimum to spend on the most sporadic position to make my team as optimal as I can get it. When I look at the cheapest kickers, only two have favorable matchups against teams that allow points to kickers—the Browns against Oakland and Miami against Buffalo. I trust Oakland’s defense giving up more yards than Buffalo, so I’ll just roll the dice and hope that Josh McCown can move the ball against a really bad defense and get me some points.
DEF Panthers $4,600
This pick is all contingent on whether Drew Brees plays or not. The Panthers are currently ranked first for fantasy defenses, and going up against the Saints without Brees would make them even more dangerous. This will be a late week tossup between them and the Jets. See my loves of the week for that.
