It’s no secret that Thursday’s deal for the Browns to get a second-round pick and quarterback Brock Osweiler from the Houston Texans was done for one reason.
To supply more ammunition to try and turn around and make a deal for Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
All over the place it’s being reported that the Browns have another deal on their mind, and it’s to try and get Tom Brady’s backup, eventually cutting ties with not only the just acquired Osweiler but also last year’s free agent QB pickup – Robert Griffin III.
The Browns have plenty to offer the Patriots, but it’s been bantered about for some time that New England still has no interest in getting rid of Jimmy G.
So what do the Browns have to do in order to get the quarterback they have seemed to have their eyes on since the moment their 1-15 season ended?
If you listen to NFL.com, they state that the price for Garoppolo is huge – a 2017 first-round pick and maybe even another first-rounder in 2018.
The Browns have two firsts, two seconds, and a third in their gun holster as of now, but it seems like there’s another holdup as to why the Pats are not willing to part with Jimmy G.
Jacoby Brissett.
Reports say Pats coach Bill Belichick is not all that pumped about turning the team over to Brissett should Brady go down with an injury, a reason why he’s high on Garoppolo, bad news for the Browns.
For now, all eyes are on what the Browns do next – and if the Patriots are willing to budge on their backup QB.
