The Parma Redmen beat the Fairview Lady Warriors 37-23.
The Lady Redmen got going extremely quickly starting off the game on a 14-0 run that featured 3 pointers from Shannon Chamberlin and Elise Balcer.
At the end of the first quarter Parma held a commanding 18-3 lead and dominated on both ends of the floor.
Fairview looked much more evenly matched in the second quarter and played solid defense.
The Lady Redmen carried a 25-10 lead into halftime.
Fairview outscored Parma in the third quarter and entered the fourth quarter down 33-19 with a lot of ground to make up.
Parma won the game 37-23 to move to 1-0.
Parma won the game because of their quick 14-0 run.
“A quick start is definitely something we’ve been emphasizing. We are fairly young team we only have one senior so it’s really important that we’re able to make shots to start games. I loved our defensive intensity to start the game and that translated into making shots and getting off to a good start,” Parma Coach Chuck Caldwell said following the win.
Elise Balcer led Parma in scoring with 10 points and Shannon Chamberlin finished with 8 points.
Fairview (0-1) will take on Vermillion (0-1) Wednesday night in Vermillion at 7:30.
Parma (1-0) will play Bay (0-1) in Parma at 7:30 in a Great Lakes Conference duel.
