The Lorain County Nightmares are off to a solid start in the PAFL this season. However, they did hit their first speed bump along the way last weekend. They took a blistering Loss Saturday against the PA Wildcatz 0-34. A game full of small mistakes and growing frustration put the Nightmares at an even 2-2 record going into week 5 against the NEO Predators on the road in Euclid.
I spoke with head coach Jamie Ray Adams about what it will take to put last week behind them, and the keys to victory this week. “The keys to victory for us don’t change week-to-week. We have some simple basics that we reinforce week in week out. Amongst the league, I believe we’re the biggest fastest and strongest team collectively but we need to do the basics brilliantly to win football games as is true at any level”, said Adams.
He would continue, “As far as what we can do, I believe we have a very young team in relation to most other teams in the league. We are often sending guys overseas and on to professional contracts so unfortunately for us you see a higher rate of turnover and change amongst the roster.
We are doing our job as coaches to help mediate mental mistakes on the field but at the end of the day these are grown men who have to make the collective decision to do better for their teammates. I do see improvement every week in the mental aspect of the game but we are still a ways away from where I would like to be as we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties that have negatively affected games.”
The game against the Predators will take place this Saturday night at 5pm at Euclid High School. Make sure to show up and support your Nightmares as they strive to get back on the winning track!
