Olmsted Falls defeats Chagrin Falls, advance to Baron Cup II Final on Sunday

BROOKLYN,OHIO– On Friday night Olmsted Falls faced off against Chagrin Falls where the winner would face Avon in the Baron Cup II Finals on Sunday at 3 pm.

Olmsted Falls scored their first of four goals in the first period with 13:41 remaining in the first period. Dominic Conte scored the first Bulldogs goal and was assisted by Will Moyse. Three minutes later the Bulldogs jumped to a 2-0 lead after a goal by Mikey Kirth-Gruczszynski. 

The scoring did not stop, Olmsted Falls added a power play goal by Bailey Carson and was assisted by Cam Wilson. Olmsted Falls finished their scoring with a final goal with under a minute left in the first period when Max Kirth-Gruczszynski scored and was assisted by his brother Mikey Kirth-Gruczszynski and Conte.

After an explosive first period that saw Olmsted Falls jump to an early 4-0 lead, the Bulldogs scored only once more for the rest of the game. With 12:13 left in the second period Cam Wilson scored a power-play goal that was assisted by Max Kirth-Gruczszynski and Bailey Carson.

Chagrin Falls did not score until 7:44 left in the final period of action when Matt McCuskey scored and was assisted by Tommy Mallack.

Olmsted Falls goalie Zach Snyder was nearly a brick wall for the Bulldogs. Snyder saved 38 out of 39 shots. Snyder had a save percentage of .942 % throughout league play this season.

Ben Winovich of Chagrin Falls had a save percentage of .915 % in league play.

One downfall for Chagrin Falls was that they spent a lot of time in the penalty box and when Olmsted Falls was in the penalty box, Chagrin Falls could not take advantage of power play opportunities.

Olmsted Falls is moving on to face the Avon Eagles in the Baron Cup II Final on Sunday at 3:00 pm.
