Avon Lake clashed with Olmsted Falls High School in the second round of The SWC Tournament, with the Bulldogs toppling the Shoremen 6-3. The game was competitive from start to finish and included some feisty play that resulted in a combined 17 penalties; with 12 being assessed to Avon Lake.The Shoremen got on the board first when freshman Murphy Mohar converted a nice pass from Patrick Graney for his 12th goal of the season.
Edgars York was also credited with his 9th assist of the season on the play. Olmsted Falls then rattled off five unanswered goals before Tommy Kacmarcik scored his third short-handed goal of the season. Jared Aslaksen and Connor Koncelik assisted on the goal.It was the team’s 13th short-handed goal of the season, after scoring 5 all of last season. Aslaksen had a strong solo effort late in the game to score his 4th goal of the weekend, unassisted. Sophomore goalie Dillon Aslaksen took the loss while stopping 33 of 39 shots on the afternoon.
Avon Lake fell to 17-6 on the season and was eliminated from SWC Tournament play with the loss. They return to non-league action next when they host Chagrin Falls of the GCHSHL White Division. The contest will begin at 8:35pm on Tuesday January 16th at Rocky River’s Hamilton Rink.
