4. Kicking Game
With a team like Ohio State, sometimes it comes down to splitting hairs in order to find flaws on the roster compared to average schools, but the Buckeyes have been on the wrong end of special teams battles in years passed.
Ohio State’s walk-on kicker Tyler Durbin had as great a game as any kicker can have without actually attempting a three-point field goal against Bowling Green.
Although the Buckeyes did not attempt a field goal, Durbin was 11-for-11 on extra-point attempts. It’s pretty ridiculous that he could even get 11 attempts in the first place, but that’s a busy day regardless of the absence of high pressure kicks.
He also buried six of 12 kickoffs in the opposing end zone.
Perhaps Buckeye fans will get to see what Durbin can do from 30, 40, or even 50 yards out against Tulsa.
When Ohio State plays Oklahoma, there’s a good chance the game could come down to one or two possessions, and every opportunity for points will be crucial.
