Elyria-native Tracy Sprinkle posted a statement on his Twitter account regarding his season-ending injury from Ohio State’s opening game against Bowling Green on Saturday.
The defensive tackle exited the game with a torn patellar tendon and will undergo surgery, followed by a long, strenuous rehab.
Sprinkle tweeted the following statement on Sunday:

Defensive line coach Larry Johnson indicated that the plan to “replace” Sprinkle will involve more of a rotation of guys rather than moving one guy up the depth chart.
Head coach Urban Meyer called the injury to Sprinkle “a big loss.”
Although it’s uncertain who will see the biggest increase in playing time at defensive tackle, the leading candidates are two redshirt freshmen, Dre’Mont Jones and DaVon Hamilton.
Ohio State already lost 12 players to the 2016 NFL Draft, which was a concern heading into this season and injuries to key players will only make that an even bigger obstacle to overcome.
The Buckeyes got off to a great start against Bowling Green, but after a Week 2 match against Tulsa, the schedule gets tougher with a road game against Oklahoma leading up to the start of Big Ten play.
