OFF THE TURNBUCKLE: Positive Takes From WWE Brand Split

RR

REIGN IN BLOOD: The punishment of Reigns for flunking the WWE’s Wellness Policy continues and the WWE Universe and Internet goons everywhere are rejoicing.

As if being forced to do the clean job to Ambrose in the main event at Battleground wasn’t bad enough, Reigns had to watch as his blood cousins The Usos carry Ambrose on their shoulders when the Smackdown roster came out to celebrate the win (and the World Title staying on their show).

Then, on Raw, even though Reigns won his four-way bout to put himself in the main event of Raw against Balor, much to everyone’s shock and surprise, it was Reigns who had his shoulders pinned cleanly to the mat to end the show. They even had Byron Saxton put a mic in his face, where Reigns was forced to further put over Balor by saying that he “respected” him.

Reigns, who was once deemed the “future face of the company” by Vince McMahon, is now nothing more than a midcarder. And, while the Internet goons and the WWE Universe can pat themselves on the back by essentially forcing this to happen by booing Reigns out of every building, the fact it this wouldn’t have happened without his positive test for Adderal (of all things).

Expect Reigns to stay in midcard hell for a while. Vince has suddenly cooled on his earlier “future face” talk, and most in the office weren’t that sold on him to begin with. Hopefully, the WWE decides to turn Reigns heel, because his character needs a shot in the arm. If they keep him face, it will further hammer the nail in his coffin.

PUT UP YOUR DUKES: Simon Gotch, one half of the WWE tag team The Vaudevillians, has already had some heat on him for his backstage demeanor. However, that heat cost him during the WWE Draft edition of Smackdown two weeks ago when he reportedly got into a legitimate fight with Sin Cara.

No one has revealed what happened between Gotch and Sin Cara to start the brawl, but once it started, it was decidedly one-sided in favor of Sin Cara according to several backstage eyewitnesses.

Sin Cara either hit Gotch with an unopened pop can or dropped him with a punch. Either way, Gotch went down like a sack of potatoes and Sin Cara had to be pulled off of him.

Gotch’s mouth has gotten him in some trouble backstage since he debuted, and this time, it cost him. And, it appears that the office is blaming Gotch for the brawl, which could derail any plans the WWE had for the Vaudevillians. Stay tuned …
