The Oberlin Phoenix have a new man in charge, as today the school announced on their website that they have hired former Valley Forge Patriots assistant varsity football coach Jesse Robinson as the teams’ new head coach starting in 2017.
Last season the Phoenix under head coach Garrett Mack went 4-6, starting the season 2-1, but then a four-game losing streak derailed their season as they finished the season two games under .500.
The 4-6 mark was an improvement in Mack’s only season as coach, as the two seasons before Mack came aboard Oberlin went 2-8 each of those seasons.
Mack left the team officially on January 17th to become the new linebackers coach for Oberlin College.
Before serving at Valley Forge High School Robinson was the co-offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach for McKinley High School for the 2014 football season.
Robinson also spent six years as a wide receiver coach at GlenOak High School, who were the Federal League Champions three of the six years throughout Robinson’s tenure.
