NXT TAKEOVER “THE END” IS SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW NIGHT ON THE WWE NETWORK
It has a loaded card, but is also filled with questions surrounding it. Will this be the last NXT Takeover? Will the entire roster be called up to Smackdown after this? Only time will tell as the rumors are flying at a frenzy.
Here is a brief breakdown of some of the top 5 matches on the card.
Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Tye Dillinger
Singles match
American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable) (c) vs. The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder)
Tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championship
Asuka (c) vs. Nia Jax
Singles match for the NXT Women’s Championship
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Austin Aries
Singles match
Samoa Joe (c) vs. Finn Bálor
Steel Cage match for the NXT Championship
Clearly, there are several questions surrounding this card. A Finn Balor loss almost guaratnees his main roster call up to join the “Bullet Club.”
Austin Aries vs Nakamura has match of the year written all over it.
Despite the loaded card, and the growing steam of NXT, some believe this really is the end, and you can expect all of the talent to be drafted by Raw and Smackdown in the near future. But can it really be it? WWE NXT is one of the most popular brands in the company, not to mention the top rated show on the nextwork. They just put out a DVD for NXT as well that sold wildly well.
Perhaps this is it for NXT, but this hopeless wrestling fan would like to think different. I see the to stars getting drafted to Raw and Smackdown, but the NXT brand staying in place. Perhaps, some main stays on the WWE roster will come down to NXT for awhile to make room.
Time will tell soon enough. What do you think?
Below are highlights from the HHH press conference on the event.
On the upcoming WWE brand split, Triple H said he expects the NXT roster to look different following the roster draft, but he doesn’t know for sure what moves will be made.
He teased that “The End” has a lot of meanings for the NXT Takeover event, and we will find out more tomorrow night. As we have noted in the past, there has been speculation that the upcoming WWE brand split might have something to do the Takeover event being called “The End.”
With regards to the WWE brand split affecting NXT touring, Triple H said that it’s always a juggle, and that if NXT talents are sent to Raw and Smackdown after the draft then he has 70 to 80 other talents waiting at the WWE Performance Center to make the step up to NXT.
In terms of NXT star debuts, Triple H says he is very excited for the debut of Andrade “Cien” Almas, and that he expects Almas to be a big player.
