For the first time this year, the St. Edward Eagles faced an in state opponent.
And for the first time this year, the number one team in the state of Ohio was challenged in the second half.
St. Edward, though, rose to the challenge and defeated Elder 34-33 to remain undefeated at 4-0.
Elder would score first in this Saturday afternoon game in Cincinnati.
Elder connected on a 9-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ryan Brass to Trenton Meyer as Elder took a 7-0 lead with 5:12 to go in the first quarter.

Elder added a field goal to take a 10-0 lead into the second quarter.
St. Edward came back with an early second quarter touchdown to make the score 10-7 with 10:16 left in the second quarter. Quarterback Casey Bullock found Brandon White open for a 15-yard touchdown pass.
With 4:54 left in the second quarter, St. Edward tied the game at 10-10 on a Kellen Moyer field goal.
Elder would score on a touchdown run by quarterback Ryan Brass right before the end of the first half to take a 16-10 lead going into halftime.
The lead changed again at the start of the third quarter as St. Edward took a 17-16 lead on a 37-yard touchdown run by Kyan Mason.
The lead would not last long as Elder came back with a touchdown of their own on another touchdown run by Brass to take a 23-17 lead.
Before the end of the third quarter, the lead would change again as St. Edward scored on a short 2-yard touchdown run by Brandon White to take the lead 24-23 heading into the fourth quarter.
The lead would change again with yet another touchdown run by Ryan Brass early in the fourth quarter as Elder took a 30-24 lead.
The Eagles would come back and regain the lead, 31-30 with 7:59 left in the game on a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Brandon White.
Elder then took the lead 33-31 with two minutes left in the game when they converted a 35-yard field goal.
In dramatic fashion, St. Edward drove down the field to set up a game winning field goal attempt.

With six seconds left in the game, Kellen Moyer made a 29- yard game winning field goal to keep St. Edward undefeated at 4-0 on the season.
St. Edward now returns back to Northeast Ohio for a week five matchup against Massillon at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium on Friday night.
