Week 4 of the high school football season got underway last night and I had the opportunity to travel to an early 5pm football game at University School, and then a night game at Beachwood High School to watch the Bison take on Grand Valley.
Here are some of the highlights from University vs. Richmond Heights and Grand Valley vs. Beachwood as well as a recap and updates of high school football games around the Northeast Ohio area last night.
Region I (OHSAA Division I)
Cleveland Heights defeated Brunswick 13-10 in a hard fought victory.
After trailing 10-0 at halftime, Cleveland Heights scored 13 unanswered points in the second half to get the victory.
In one of the most exciting games in the state of Ohio last night, Mentor defeated Medina 42-41.
Mentor scored a touchdown with 1:23 left in the game to get the victory.

Region 5 (OHSAA Division II)
Riverside, coming off a big victory over Mentor last week, won 35-6 over Maple Heights Heights last night as they maintain their top ranking in this region.
Coach Fox and Nordonia maintained the third spot in this region as they defeated Solon.

Region 9 (OHSAA Division III)
Big victories were achieved by Gilmour, Kenston, and Geneva in this region on Friday night.
Kenston’s Sean Patrick ran for over 200 yards and had five total touchdowns as the Bombers defeated Villa Angela-St. Joesph’s, 49-27

Region 13 (OHSAA Division Division IV)
Canton South is now at the top of the rankings in this region as they are still undefeated at 4-0. Canton South defeated Orville, 45-14.
Poland Seminary defeated Canfield 10-7, to stay undefeated at 4-0.
Also, Lake Catholic defeated Willoughby South, 34-7.

Region 17 (OHSAA Division V)
Last week the Perry Pirates ended Kirtland’s 57 game regular season winning streak, and this week they defeated Jefferson Area, 50-0.
I was at the Grand Valley vs. Beachwood game last night covering region 17 football.
Grand Valley took a 35-6 lead going into halftime.
Both Grand Valley and Beachwood scored a touchdown in the second half to make the final score, 42-12.

Norwayne also remains undefeated as they defeated Hillsdale, 49-14.
Region 21 (OHSAA Division VI)
Rootstown won last night over Pymatuning Valley 28-6 and Jackson-Milton defeated Mineral Ridge 23-20.
Rootstown and Jackson-Milton stay undefeated and are at the top of the region 21 rankings as we head to week 5.
