Week 4 of the high school football season kicks off tonight and there are some exciting games on hand for the weekend.
Region I (OHSAA Division I)
After three games, clearly there are some great teams from this region that will be competing for the OHSAA State Championship.
St. Edward is now on top in this region and will travel to Cincinnati to face a tough Elder team.
Cleveland Heights, behind the incredible running of Marquise Davis, is now 2-1 and is ranked second in the region. They will face Brunswick on Friday.
Fourth ranked Medina will travel to Mentor to take on the Cardinals.
Mentor is coming off a high intensity game against Riverside, in which Riverside won in the final minute of play.
It should be a very exciting weekend of high school football games in this region.
Region 5 (OHSAA Division II)
Riverside, with the victory over Mentor, has taken over the top spot in this region. They will try to maintain this top spot as they take on Maple Heights.
Walsh Jesuit, who is second in the region, travels out of state to New York for a Saturday game.
Coach Fox and Nordonia hold down the third spot in this region as they host Solon who will be looking for their first victory of the season.
Region 9 (OHSAA Division III)
It should not be surprising to Northeast Ohio Sports fans that Villa Angela-St. Joseph is back at the top of this region. Coach Jeff Rotsky has his team playing excellent football as they take on a very good Kenston team who is ranked sixth in this region.
Gilmour had a big 41-10 victory over their rival Hawken last week and will look to stay undefeated as they take on a very good NDCL team.
Region 13 (OHSAA Division IV)
Streetsboro behind the great running of senior Preston Hopperton has taken over the top spot in this region as they defeated a great Alliance team last week.
Streetsboro looks to maintain the number one ranking as they host an undefeated Norton team.
Region 17 (OHSAA Division V)
Perry!
What an incredible game last week by the Perry Pirates!
The Pirates ended Kirtland’s 57 game regular season winning streak.
Perry will look to maintain the top ranking in region 17 as they host Jefferson Area who will be looking for their first win of the season.
Norwayne who is ranked second in region 17 will host Hillsdale who is undefeated on the season.
Garfield is ranked third in this region and will host LaBrae.
Region 21 (OHSAA Division VI)
Kirtland is now ranked fifth in this region and will look to rebound this week as they take on Trinity on Saturday night.
Now leading the region is Mineral Ridge who will take on an undefeated Jackson-Milton team.
Rootstown, behind the amazing running of Dawson Morgan, is now 3-0 on the season. Rootstown will look to remain undefeated as they will host Pymatuning Valley.
