The Normandy Invaders and CVCA Royals prepared for a clash at Ries Rink in Parma just a few weeks before the GCHSHL’s Baron Cup. Both teams were looking for a big victory and it went to the Invaders this night. It was apparent from the start of how the game would unfold, as Normandy was pushing the pace for most of the night and was far more aggressive not only on the boards but all over the ice.
Alex Franke opened the game’s scoring at the 6:18 mark of the opening frame with a shot from the right side. Franke’s teammate Lukas George would follow his lead with another marker for Normandy just twenty seconds later. It appeared to start taking the life out of the Royals, who started the period with a lot of energy. Jason Pierzchala and Kyle Ryan both added goals in the final two minutes to push the Invaders’ lead to 4-0.
Pierzchala notched his second goal of the game at the 5:56 mark of the middle stanza to continue the offensive barrage for Normandy. Though CVCA would get on the board with a Christian Beckett goal at the 7:21 mark of the frame, Normandy would add another score to keep the lead at five. With 15.7 seconds left in the second period, Kyle Ryan would score his second goal of the evening to make it 6-1 in favor of the Invaders heading into the final fifteen minutes of play.
With only a 1:14 into the final frame, Jason Pierzchala would secure a hat-trick on what was an excellent game from him in all aspects. Dylan Ferrari would get the only other Royals goal at the 9:58 mark, but that would surely not impact the outcome. The Invaders rolled to a 7-2 victory in their final home game of the season.
Normandy improves to 8-1 in GCHSHL play with the victory while CVCA drops to 3-7 in league play.
