The number one position of need for the Cleveland Browns has been QB for the past 17 years.
If anyone tells you otherwise, they are probably drunk. The QB position is the most important position not only on the offense but also as a leader of your entire team.
Had I been able to attend some of these QB interviews, I would put a lot of stock into the character of a drafted QB. I would like a guy with a chip on his shoulder (in true Cleveland fashion) good mobility but structured behind the idea of extending the passing play.
I do not think the Browns need to draft a QB in the first round, especially at #2, because none of these guys to me stand out like a Jameis Winton, a Marcus Mariota, or an Andrew Luck.
But like I said earlier, I think it is all going to come down to who Hue Jackson thinks he can get the most out of. Hue is a high character guy, but I do not see it getting the way of his desire to develop the type of QB he wants while we all see if RGIII can bring back some of his rookie year magic.
RGIII is under contract for 2 years and at a reasonable price…lets get what we can out of him while we can…if we (Hue Jackson) can. I will say it again, personally, I would like to see the Browns take a pass rusher or a stub line backer in the first round whether it is at #2 or via trade down.
After that has been done and depending on how the QBs begin to fall in the draft, I think you could possibly get a Connor Cook, a Paxton Lynch, or a Dak Prescott with the #32 overall pick and still get could value at the position while taking care of a rather pressing need first with a defensive stud.
Browns were the worst defense in the league, and with RGIII in town, we do not HAVE to go into this draft with a desperate need for a QB.
But since the QB position is such a vital one, maybe Jackson and Hamilton see the future with one of these following prospects and would be willing to start their era in the Browns organization with a “slam dunk” at the QB position at #2 overall. You can decide for yourself once you take a look at these following prospects.
