Day 2 of the NFL Draft has finally arrived, and the Cleveland Browns are scheduled to pick in the third round at picks 74 and 98. After the first day of picks in the NFL Draft being held in Kansas City, there’s still a wealth of talent waiting for teams to select from tonight.

The Browns are in a position to potentially move up in the draft with these picks and take someone potentially in the second round. The team could also trade back a few spots and collect more picks for the future. Cleveland is in a pretty good position to gather depth this go around as they don’t really need starters.

The team has done well in making some deals with free agents this offseason, such as signing defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. The Browns also traded for wide receiver Elijah Moore from the New York Jets.

With that as the backdrop, let’s look at three players that have been tied to the Browns in the build-up to tonight’s picks.

Trenton, Simpson, linebacker, Clemson

Simpson has been tied to Cleveland for a bit now and it could take them having to move up in the draft to get him tonight. The Clemson star on defense was a very versatile player for the Tigers. He had played in the secondary initially as a safety and has since transitioned to the linebacker spot. He’s quick and physical and would make for a nice duo alongside Browns current linebacker Jeremiah Owusu Koromoah

Keeanu Benton, Defensive Tackle, Wisconsin

The star defensive lineman from Wisconsin, Benton would be a nice player to fit into the nose tackle position. He’s had a very good off-season and played well at the recent Senior Bowl. Cleveland needs still more support at the defensive tackle position as there are still many questions for the team at this spot. Current Browns Jordan Elliott and Tommie Toga are not necessarily locks to even make the team this year, so the team really needs to keep adding depth here.

Isaiah McGuire, Edge Rusher, Missouri

When you watch the film on Isaiah Maguire of Missouri, you see a kid who is explosive and can get off the ball and creates havoc in the backfield. He went for 8 1/2 sacks last season and has tallied 17 sacks for his career. He also recorded 32 tackles for losses while collecting 95 tackles in the last two seasons.

Cleveland acquired a defensive end. 00 in free agency and while that’s a good move, they definitely still need depth. McGuire could gradually work his way into a more prominent role on the team as he plays behind Myles Garrett, Alex Wright, and Isaiah Thomas.

Roschon Johnson, Running Back, Texas

The star running back of Texas was Bijan Robinson, who was taken yesterday by the Atlanta Falcons. However, the Longhorns have another running back named Roschon Johnson who would be an intriguing pick by the Browns today.

Johnson was originally brought to Texas as a quarterback but moved to running back soon after where he showed off his versatility. He was used by the Longhorns in multiple ways and the Browns would be smart to consider drafting him tonight.

While the team has Nick Chubb starring as their running back, we don’t know how long Chubb will be with the team in the long run.

Cleveland drafted Jerome Ford a year ago from the University of Cincinnati and many projections have him being that second back behind Chubb.

However, Johnson seems like an excellent fit on a team like Cleveland that is looking to still strengthen a potentially deadly offensive unit.
